Considering whether or not to start microdosing can be both exhilarating and daunting.
Psilocybin works in very counterintuitive ways and a microdosing practice is equally as unusual.
This guide aims to offer you a comprehensive approach to navigating the initial steps of a safe, enjoyable, and effective microdosing experience.
Step 1: What Are You Aiming For and Why?
Reflect on your motivations for microdosing.
Before we get to setting intention, I think motivation needs to be established first and foremost.
What are you hoping microdosing will do for you? What are you expecting to feel? What are you expecting to become and what is the timeline you have in your mind?
Your assumptions may be correct, or not. Either way, it’s good to be aware of them at the start and use them as points of discernment throughout your microdosing experience.
Step 2: Research, Endless Research
The more we know, the more we realize how little we know.
Research is part of the deal when it comes to microdosing. New research is always emerging, we each have individual medical histories, individual life circumstances, and personal goals.
Taking in as much open-sourced information as possible is crucial. It’s also part and parcel of a psychedelic practice. The good news is that I’ve done quite a bit of work for you already here in our blog section
Step 3: Find A Good Supplier
Although microdosing products are not available globally, they are more available today than they have ever been.
This means that it’s easier to find reputable sources that supply high-quality products and include only good intentions.
Avoid buying anything on social media platforms, rather look for suppliers with a sophisticated website, quality images, robust collection of reviews, and have been in business for more than a year.
If buying capsules, don’t be shy to ask the suppliers for the exact contents and full ingredients list.
In my opinion, a good supplier will be transparent with their customers, responsive to messages, committed to high quality, ethical in their approach, and discreet in the delivery of their products.
Step 4: Start With Fadiman
For newbies, we recommend starting with the Fadiman Protocol, it is the most well-suited to help you become comfortable microdosing.
You probably know that there are many microdosing protocols available and you can read up on them here.
You are most welcome to experiment with various other protocols once you feel comfortable, and again this Fadiman Protocol is a great starting point.
Step 5: Finding Your Sweet Spot
Starting Dose: A typical microdose ranges from 0.25 grams of truffles to 1.5 grams of truffles.
Alternatively, if using Golden Teacher mushrooms (which are more potent) the microdosing range is much smaller and only between 0.1 grams and 0.3 grams.

Step 6: Track and Journal Your Experience
Document Everything: Keep a detailed journal of your microdosing journey, noting dates, dosages, and your physical, emotional, and cognitive state before and after dosing.
Over time, this record will be invaluable for understanding the effects and customizing your very own protocol that works uniquely for you.

Step 7: Integrate Your Experiences & Enjoy the Afterglow
During the course of your microdosing protocol, check in with yourself as often as you can.
Just a moment to reflect on how you are feeling, how the world is engaging with you, and how resilient you are feeling.
This reflection can be done via journaling and is a vital part of the integration process.
Consider how these insights can be integrated into your daily life to support your goals.
Notice and expect the benefits of afterglow between your microdosing days and between microdosing cycles.
Step 8: Seek Community and Support
Engaging with a community of fellow microdosers like ours provides more than just support.

Step 9: Evaluate, Adjust, and Optimize
Once you’ve completed a microdosing cycle (6-8 weeks), it’s fair to say that you have found your surfing legs and are well on your way to the next level of your evolution.

I started my first 1/4 dose four weeks ago in the morning. It make me seek. When I had breakfast 30 min later I vomited and felt seek the rest of the morning with nausea. In the afternoon I felt kind of unstable. I have not tried it again but I will do once again with just a little piece of the microdose. Did this happen to other people? What is the way to overcome this situation, I I had a lot of work to do but I was not able to do anything

I’m so sorry that you had this experience. On rare occasions, this can happen.
One of the ways that we can combat this is to make a Lemon Tek tea from your microdose.
