One of the questions that comes up a lot is: how long do we break between microdosing cycles?

Understanding Microdosing Cycles

First things first, let’s break down what we mean by a microdosing cycle:

  1. Duration: Typically 6-8 weeks, but can range from 4-12 weeks
  2. Dosage: Sub-perceptual amounts of psilocybin
  3. Frequency: Intermittent, not daily

Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. You will know when to stop and start by journaling daily and therefore paying attention to how you feel.  

The Fadiman Protocol: A Beginner’s Best Friend

For those just dipping their toes into the microdosing waters, we highly recommend starting with the Fadiman Protocol. It’s ideal for newbies and allows you to find your feet and get used to the sensations.

Finding Your Sweet Spot

Ah, the elusive sweet spot – that magical dose that feels like “A Really Good Day.” It’s a subtle sense of emotional resilience and enhanced coping abilities. 

Worth mentioning that if your sweet spot dosage changes after your first cycle, please know that it’s perfectly ok. 

In the world of microdosing, less is often more!

The Importance of Tracking and Journaling

To navigate this psychedelic sea, you’ll need a map. That’s where tracking apps (available for iPhone and Android) and journaling come in. Tracking and journaling are invaluable compasses. They guide and inform your microdosing experience are are simply indispensable..

The Art of the Break

Now, onto the million-dollar question: Is microdosing a lifelong practice? How long should you break between cycles? 

Here’s the deal:

  1. Minimum recommended break: 4 weeks
  2. Maximum break: Could be a year or more
  3. The deciding factor: Your intuition

Unlike some substances, I do not believe that psilocybin builds tolerance. The benefits can linger long after your cycle ends. 

So, how do you know when to start again? You listen to yourself. As the legendary Maria Sabina said, “You are the medicine.”

Microdosing is a deeply personal journey. 

There’s no magic number for how long to break between cycles. 

The key is to pay attention to your body, mind, and your daily habits. 

Microdosing is counterintuitive to other well-being protocols and requires that you trust yourself and your intuition throughout.
