Best Practices for Microdosing
Never before in the history of humankind have psychoactive substances been so widely available. Although still widely illegal, now more than ever, we are experimenting with our consciousness.
Perhaps our first introduction to this world was a Netflix documentary or a conversation with a friend over dinner. Maybe someone you know has been experimenting and you’ve noticed an important change in them? Maybe research into possible alternative treatments has led you here.
Psilocybin, in any quantity, often has a profound effect on many people but is far from a silver bullet.
This blog post is about maximizing your microdosing journey every step of the way. Everything you need to know from safety to free online products you might not know about.
Ready? Let’s Go!
Choose Your Adventure
First things first, let your doctor know and get the ok from them.
Start with Why: Why do you want to incorporate psychoactive compounds into your life?
Be clear on what you want to achieve and what you want this experience to be about.
Notice any expectations you may have of psilocybin and investigate to see if they are accurate or even plausible.
MIcro or MAcro?: What kind of experience are you looking for?
Microdosing is officially defined as “to use sub-threshold doses of psychedelic drugs in an attempt to enhance cognitive tasks, to boost physical energy levels, to promote emotional balance, and to treat anxiety, depression and addiction’ resulting in typically subtle though noticeable effects (Fadiman, 2011).”
MAcrodosing is taking a large enough amount of a drug (aka psilocybin) to induce a full psychedelic experience.
To help decide which is best for you at this time, here are some very broad strokes considerations differentiating the two experiences.
Pros and Cons MIcrodosing:
- No travel required
- More financially affordable
- Full control and autonomy over your experience
- Easy pace (integration is baked into the practice)
- Benefits are noticed slowly over time
- Not a silver bullet and not for everyone
Pros and Cons MAcrodosing:
- Arguably a rite of passage
- One of the most profound life experiences
- Immersive experience
- Requires weeks of preparation ahead of time
- Finding the right retreat center and shaman
- Not affordable to all (depending on where you live)
- Post-ceremony integration support is required
- No guarantee of a ‘good trip’
Assuming You’re MIcrodosing
For the sake of this article, I will assume that you’ve decided to microdose small amounts over time rather than a hero’s dose ceremony.
If so, here are the steps I encourage you to follow to get the most out of your experience:
Choose your supplier wisely. If you are in the EU then yay! It would be our pleasure to send you some of our truffles.
If you are outside the EU, be sure to avoid suppliers that sell via Instagram or Telegram. A supplier with a great website and lots of positive reviews is what we are looking for.
If you do order from us, be sure to subscribe to our newsletters to be the first to find out about sales, promotions, and discounts.
When microdosing psilocybin truffles, it’s important to keep track of the doses. If you don’t already have a scale at home, be sure to include a scale with your order here.
Once you’ve ordered wait for your order to arrive. Keep our customer support email on hand if you need anything hello@microdose-pro.com
While you are waiting for your order to arrive, you can join our free group coaching calls to learn everything you need to know about microdosing. Twice a month (every 1st and 3rd Tuesday) 20 newbies join on Zoom for a 90-minute online microdosing workshop.

Time for Some Afterglow
If you’ve been microdosing for ±6 weeks or more, take a break. Integrate.
