Your Monthly Upgrade is a collection of psychedelic resources selected by Microdose Pro’s co-founder Nils.
This is your monthly upgrade, a collection of psychedelic resources we’re consuming at Microdose Pro and like to share with our community.
I’ve spent the last month recharging at Boom Festival in Portugal and doing some traveling across Europe. As the summer is approaching its end, we are also gearing up again at Microdose Pro HQ.
We now have over 3200 members in our Facebook community and new things coming up in the following months, so stay tuned!
For now, let’s get straight into the good stuff.
Podcasts I’m listening to
Our community manager Asha shared this podcast with Dr. Dan Engle MD from the Aubrey Marcus podcast with me last week. I have been going back over it ever since.
In the talk, Marcus and Engle discuss how psychedelics can heal trauma and do a deep dive into their own experiences with entheogens like Ayahuasca.
I especially resonate with the analogy of how the psychedelic experience can function as a mirror, showing us not what is wrong in the external world, but instead offering a tool to go within.
Highly recommend checking it out, some deep wisdom in here.
My favorite quote from the podcast:
“The last of the great human freedoms is the ability to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance.”
Book I’m reading
In my previous mail, I shared that Netflix was about to release its How To Change Your Mind documentary series.
I watched the series last month and must say I’m very impressed.
It definitely exceeded my expectations, and we can see a surge in new customers that mention their interest in microdosing was sparked by the first episode.
Some people even have called this rise in psychedelic interest the Michael Pollan Effect, as we are not the only ones that see an increased demand.
However, I realized I had not yet read the book on which the documentary is based so I picked it up during the summer. It’s quite a classic already and gives A LOT of context to the entire psychedelic history.
If you liked the Netflix series and want to dive deeper into all the mentioned topics and people, buy a copy here (no affiliate).
Study I am reading
With the Michael Pollan Effect in full effect, we also get a lot more questions on scientific research and studies.
Later this month, we will dedicate an article on the most prominent research up to date on psilocybin and microdosing.
Right now I’m delving a bit more into one of the most recent studies to date on microdosing psilocybin which was released only two months back in Nature. Famous mycologist Paul Stamets was also part of the research team.
This study compared a group of microdosers (n=953) to non-microdosers (n=180) and found that microdosing resulted in small- to medium-sized improvements in mood and mental health.
The most interesting finding to me however is the fact that combining psilocybin, lion’s mane, and niacin was associated with improved psychomotor performance among older microdosers.
They measured this by letting participants perform “finger tap tests” on mobile devices.
This of course opens the doors to a lot of new research, as it hints that the so-called Stamets Stack (Psilocybin + Lion’s Mane + Niacin) can be beneficial for longevity.

Music I’m listening to
I received a lot of requests for this one last month, don’t worry, I have updated the playlists!
Whenever I’m in a state of flow or deep work, I almost always listen to some psychedelic tracks in combination with binaural beats.
I found some amazing tracks again this month and updated both Microdose Pro Radio playlists on Spotify, check them out:
Tune in to the Deep Work playlist:
Tune in to the Hyperflow playlist:
Also check out my Binaural Beats for Focus playlist here.
Good luck grinding 🤓🧠
Review of the month
We receive a bunch of reviews every month, this month this one resonated most with me:
“For the first time in my adult life, I feel my brain silent and calm. I still have work to do but at least I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I feel a lot of gratitude and a lot of peace. Thanks for existing and thanks to the universe for letting me find you”
Cristina from Portugal
That’s it for this month.
If you have any podcast recommendations, book tips, cool tracks, or anything else, feel free to reach out and send them to me by replying to this email or by sending a dm.
